NSF Awards GMP Registration; Certifies Supplement Line

NSF International, Ann Arbor, MI, has awarded Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) registration to Contract Pharmacal Corporation (CPC), Hauppauge, NY, a manufacturer and packager of dietary supplements, OTC drugs and Rx pharmaceuticals. NSF conducted a plant audit at the CPC facility in Long Island, NY, to verify conformance to GMPs and will conduct periodic audits to verify continued conformance. GMPs for the current NSF Dietary Supplements Program are based on industry recommended GMPs provided to FDA under FDA’s Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and are included in NSF American National Standard 173-Dietary Supplements. NSF will adopt FDA GMPs into the NSF/ANSI Standard once they become a final rule.

In other news, NSF has certified Topco’s Top Care® brand dietary supplements. The NSF Dietary Supplements Certification Program conducted formulation reviews, plant audits and laboratory testing to ensure that Topco’s dietary supplements met all requirements of NSF American National Standards-Dietary Supplements.
